Lucidin primeveroside is a natural product isolated from the root powder of akane (Rubia akane) and can be used as a coloring agent and a food pigment. Lucidin primeveroside can be metabolically converted to genotoxic compound Lucidin in mice.(In Vitro):Lucidin primeveroside showed any antifeedant activity against the carpet beetle. (In Vivo):In mice, Lucidin primeveroside (0.3% in the diet) induces Lucidin-specific DNA adduct formation and increases mutation frequencies.
